Day 110 | April 20, 2009 | Kawang Waterfalls in HDR

Kawang Waterfall in HDR

Camera : Nikon D60
Lenses : AF-S DX Nikkor 55-200 mm f/4-5.6G VR
ISO : 100
Exposure Program : Manual
F-number : f/13
Shutter Speed : 1.6 s
Focal Length : 90 mm
Software : Photomatix Pro 3 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0

Photographer's Comments
This shot was actually taken on April 19, 2009, but the processing was done on April 20, 2009. Technically this is for Day 109, but I am labeling it as Day 120 because the processing was done on April 20, 2009. My maiden attempt at creating a High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging. This HDR image was done using a single file conversion. I used Photomatix to do generate the HDR image and do the necessary tone mapping and HDR rendition. I then used Photoshop Elements to adjust the colours and contrast. I am quite happy with the final output from this image. Comments on how to improve this photo, composition wise or post processing is highly appreciated.

Went on another hiking session at the Kawang Forest Reserve, Sabah. Took this shot using a borrowed Nikkor 55-200 mm VR lenses courtesy of Sharin. I also used a CIR-PL filter attaced to the lense. The hike was not as bad as the hike up Kiansom Falls, but the scenery along the way was beauthiful. Did some minor adjustment in Photoshop Elements. Another macro shot from me. This time it's a grasshopper that I saw around my office compound. The actual size of the grasshopper is about 2 cm long. Saw this particular butterfly as I was leaving my home to go to the office this morning. Surprisingly, the butterfly was a bit inactive. I was able to bring it into the house and take a photo of it. The ISO is high as I had neglected to check the setting on the camera before taking the photo. The ISO setting was from my previous shot. The little brown thing the butterfly is resting on is my finger. Did some minor adjustment in Photoshop Elements.
